| Without
Christmas
Without Christmas I would not have led this life
Without Christ, no Christmas, grandchildren or wife.
No midnight mass, no glimpse of the divine,
No witnessing the consecrated wine
Being gratefully received.
Without Christmas there would be no hope
or joy
Based on the birth of this eternal boy.
No babe of Bethlehem, no manger sign
No star leading the world to Palestine
No God incredibly conceived.
Without Christmas where would we have come
to be?
Worshipping with Pan-pipes round a Yuletide tree?
No gifts reminding of salvation’s plan
No Heavenly Father reaching out to man
Yearning to be believed.
