Incarnate!

Jesus was once six weeks old,
The smile of God upon his world
Was never seen until that day
And now it never fades away.

Jesus was once eight days old,
The quick, sharp knife, her blood ran cold,
Mary’s tears gave her away,
God’s blood was first shed on that day.

Jesus was once minutes old,
The umbilical cord will hold
Eternally on mothers’ hearts.
God’s life as one alone now starts.

Jesus was once eighteen weeks old
From his conception; arms would fold
And legs would kick within the womb,
For God there was no other room.

Jesus was once one second old,
Annunciation could be told,
Incarnate God, new mystery,
Now enters into history.

Jesus was once, and is again,
Infinite, timeless, yet for men
And women shared seconds, weeks, days.
We cannot understand, just praise.
